Cassius on Expert (Nowhere near no hit because I'm bad at this game)

It looks kinda like Undertale...and that's pretty much everything it has in common with Undertale. Oh and they both have lots of bullets.

It's technically an RPG I guess, but the game lacks a lot of the character progression mechanics that you might expect from a game in that genre. It seems you'll always deal the same amount of damage and have the same amount of health throughout the entire game. You get one skill partway in, but that's about it, which makes the entire game execution-based rather than grind- or strategy- based.

As for the combat, it's a bit odd and takes getting used to, but it's fun and hard as hell. It looks like a rhythm game, sounds like a rhythm game, acts like a rhythm game, but it's not at all a rhythm game. This is a card-carrying member of the bullet hell genre.

The way it works is basically you have a skill that lets you absorb one bullet directly in front of you. The window it's active is pretty short and it has a brief cooldown, so you can't spam it to vacuum up bullets in front of you. If you absorb two of the same color in a row, you can shoot it back at the boss. Your bullets get blocked if they hit two regular bullets, or one tall bullet, so you need a clear line of sight to land shots.

The challenge in this game comes not just from dodging bullets (which is pretty challenging in itself), but also from the time limits. In the second half of the game, some of the bosses have incredibly tight dps requirements. It's not enough to be able to dodge the boss patterns and stall them out, you also have to be able to plan out your absorbs and your shots to be able to crank out enough damage, or be like me and play incredibly greedy and get hit a bunch. This vid for example is maybe 5 seconds short of the time limit. I think its a hard game, but also YMMV depending on your comfort level with these kinds of games. I've been playing through expert thus far and although it's hard for sure, none of it feels unfair quite yet.
