Jump Force is Bandai Namco’s upcoming Weekly Shonen Jump crossover title developed by Spike Chunsoft that’ll be coming to Xbox One, PS4 and Steam next year. These are the same developers who created J-Stars Victory Vs. which generally had mixed opinions from the community. Will this game live up to the hype still remains to be seen, but for now let’s focus on some of the game’s mechanics that are currently present in the game. Note that these observations are based on the footage released by Bandai Namco as I didn’t attend this year’s E3 to play the demo myself. Now without further-ado let’s begin.

Character Changing: 0:58
-Character changing is fast and effective for offense, defense, and approaching. After one character attacks, another can follow up. They can also be changed mid-combo similar to other 3v3 fighting games.
-Players can also swap after the opponent’s knockback attack. This will be useful for countering enemy attacks (which we’ll go into more detail later) and catching them by surprise, but it may have potential to be abused.

Transformations: 1:20
-Transformations use no special meter, but instead a meter around the frame of the character icon. Naruto’s Tailed Beast Bomb uses no meters at all, which may mean that there is some sort of rage mechanic implemented in the game if the glowing transformation meter is any indication.
-Similar to Naruto's tailed beast bomb, Goku uses a spirit bomb near the end of this match and it seem to cost him nothing while also having that glowing transformation meter.
-All three characters share this transformation meter along with the other meters present.

Counter Attacks: 1:57
-Characters can break combos with a blocking counter attack, but this consumes part of the blue circular meter shown on the bottom of the screen.
-Counter attacks can be countered by the opponent as well, but I’m not sure if a counter attack can only be used once per character in this case or until the blue meter goes down to zero.

Dashing: 2:14
-Another attack that consumes this meter is what looks like a heavy dash attack. Both characters can even clash them. Not sure if this dash is unblockable or if it has stun, but it’s possible.
-The heavy dash attack seems easily avoidable, has no tracking and can be stopped by certain attacks (at least initially) we won’t know the practical purpose of this until more players get their hands on the game.
-Regular dashing with tracking also uses the same blue meter that is used for the block counters. It's a set amount per dash regardless of the distance. You can also dash backwards which will also deplete the blue meter.

Teleporting: 2:47
-Teleporting uses some of the circular meter up as well. Confirmed so far by the following characters: Goku, Frieza, Zoro. This is most likely an ability that every character has.

Charging: 3:00
-Characters such as Goku and Zoro can charge their special meter. Since the information used here is based on footage released by Bandai Namco, it’s hard to determine if this ability is unique to certain characters or available for everyone.

Ground Combos: 3:11
-In this example with Sasuke, he uses his Amateratsu to knock the opponent down to the floor and he is able to continue a combo right after. This could either mean that ground combos are possible or that opponents that don’t recover could be taken advantage of.

Stage Hazards: 3:26
-Characters can trigger stage hazards and transitions after charging up a heavy attack hit as indicated by the character’s orange glow. This feature most likely takes inspiration from the over the top cinematic fighting game series Dead or Alive which contains similar elements of stage destruction and transitions.

Blocking & Dodging: 3:46
-There’s no chip damage when blocking attacks, as shown here by Naruto's damage counter.
-Characters can break their opponents guard by performing a charge attack.
Dodging at the right time causes a brief slow-motion scene and an opportunity to counter.
