To start with, what is the swordsman synergy? It is a 2/4 hero synergy with the members, 1 gold Saber, 2 gold Hayabusa, 3 gold Lancelot, and 5 gold Ling. The synergy grants swordsmen a chance to summon swords upon damaging enemies with skills, which deal extra damage based on a percentage of the target's lost HP and heals the swordsman 100% of the damage dealt. Upon completion, you can choose between 2 evolutions; Evolve which adds a new golden sword which has 150% effect or Awaken which allows swordsmen to trigger the synergy on their basic attack.

These are the possible synergy combinations.
✅ 6 Mech Era + 4 Swordsman (ME⁶SW⁴): This combo is special because of the Drain evolution of the Mech Era, which allows ME heroes to deal extra true damage after reducing mana. This effect counts as a skill and can trigger skill based effects, including the swordsman synergy. This means Mech Era swordsmen can trigger their synergy on their basic attacks without the Awaken Evolution, and thus can use the Evolve Evolution instead to get the extra 150% effect.
✅ 6 Superhero + 4 Swordsman (SH⁶SW⁴): This combo is hard to complete because there are only 5 superheroes in the game and thus is hardly found in this form. Instead, only the first 3 heroes, Chou, Vale and Lancelot are used as support heroes for the other 2 factions.
✅ 6 Cadia Riverlands + 4 Swordsman (CR⁶SW⁴): This combo is also hard to complete because Ling, Zilong and Luo yi are high rarity heroes. As such, this combo is very rarely completed as such but is instead used as a late game support for a much easier synergy.
✅ 6 Mech Era + 6 Superhero + 4 Swordsman (ME⁶SH⁶SW⁴): This is the most common hybrid combo of the swordman synergy, which used Lance, Hayabusa and Saber as core heroes with maxed out factions. The evolution combo is Drain + Paralysis + Evolve.
✅ 6 Mech Era + 6 Cadia Riverlands + 4 Swordsman (ME⁶CR⁶SW): This synergy uses the cadia crystals to buff Hayabusa and sometimes Saber, allowing them to attack faster and survive longer. The evolution combo is Drain + Share/Ascension + Awaken.
✅ 6 Superhero + 6 Cadia Riverlands + 4 Swordsman (SH⁶CR⁶SW⁴): This synergy uses both cadia and superhero crystals to create 2 hybrid monsters, cadia lance and superhero ling. The evolution combo is Enhance + Share/Ascension + Awaken.
✅ 6 Mech Era + 6 Superhero + 6 Cadia Riverlands + 4 Swordsman (ME⁶SH⁶CR⁶SW⁴): This synergy combo is so rare it can be considered impossible but by using a cut out from the final lineup called THE ROOT OF THE SWORDS, It and every other swordman synergy combo can be built very easily. The evolution combo is Drain + Evolve + Share/Ascension + Awaken.

THE ROOT OF THE SWORDS (ROS)
This is a cutout from the ME⁶SH⁶CR⁶SW⁴ lineup with a synergy of
[4 Swordsman + 3 Mech Era + 3 Superhero + 3 Cadia Riverlands]
that can be used practically in every game and from which every synergy combination can be built. The members of the root are
1 gold: Saber, Chou
2 gold: Hayabusa, Vale
3 gold: Lancelot, (Lesley)
4 gold: Zilong, Luo yi
5 gold: Ling, Gatotkaca, (Gord)
These 11 heroes form the ROS. To use the ROS in every game, follow these steps.
✅ Always pick Lance as your starting hero as every possible starting combination can be used in the ROS.
✅ Your starting 5 heroes should be the first 5 heroes of the ROS, namely Chou, Saber, Vale, Hayabusa, Lancelot.
✅ Add Lesley and upgrade to Commander Level 6 but don't upgrade her, as you will replace her with Gord later on to get 3 elementalist synergy.
✅ Add the remaining heroes in the ROS following the below steps for blessings

To use the ROS to build the synergy combos:
✅ If Haya/Saber gets a Mech Era blessing, replace Zilong and Luo yi in the ROS with Johnson and Beatrix and max out the ME⁶SW⁴.
✅ If Haya/Saber gets a Swordsman blessing, either remove the 3 cadia heroes or the 3 superheroes and max out the ME⁶SH⁶SW⁴ or ME⁶CR⁶SW⁴.
✅ If you get a superhero blessing/crystal, replace Zilong and Luo yi in the ROS with Bruno and Esme and max out the SH⁶SW⁴.
✅ If Lance gets a Swordsman blessing, remove the Mech Era heroes and max the SH⁶CR⁶SW⁴
✅ If you get a cadia crystal, proceed as normal.

To use the ROS to complete the ME⁶SH⁶CR⁶SW⁴:
✅ You must not get a swordman blessing
✅ You must get a science crystal
✅ You must get 8 relevant blessings/crystals.

The best commanders are Rya with her skill 3 (budding blossom) and Buss with his skill 3 (The Midas Touch).
