Example of Perfect Guarding in Soul Calibur VI
In Soul Calibur VI, perfect guarding nullifies all chip damage. It also reduces guard damage and builds a little meter in the process. Perfect guards are performed simply by pressing guard at the right time from a non-guarding state. In order to perform it while guarding already, you have to let go of the guard button and press it at the right time. In cases where a string jails, you are locked into guarding even if you let go of block after the initial block, but you can still press G at the right times to perfect guard each hit. Here is a great example of how you can optimize against a soul charge move that jails, meaning there's zero risk to try it.
