Exit Fate is a role playing game made in RPGMaker by SCF. With 75 characters to recruit, a mixture of typical turn based combat and war battles, and an engaging story, the result is a very Suikoden-esque game.

Got a war battle to deal with so let's get to it!

For this war battle, Leonius is on the field along with Trevor & Sick jointly controlling a squad themselves. There's the usual enemy rabble too.

Unlike the last couple of war battles, this one can actually get a little dicey. Leonius and his friends love to zerg rush right away if you even slightly attempt to advance. Setting up a defensive line around that small mountain just to Leonius's west is going to be the best play because none of the enemy units have Mountaineer or Forester so you can setup a choke point there.

Not much to mention on the loadout of my commander units except for a few notable ones. First off, Shiro is a rather damn good commander due to the fact he has 3 star compatibility with every unit type. I made him a sorcery unit here since he's the only other commander besides Ljusalf that can lead such a unit at 3 stars for a very long time.

Secondly, Keyser's setup with his subcommanders strengthens his primary role. He might not have the best attack ever, but his defense sits at a very massive 11, meaning he can take quite the punishment and buy everyone else time to thin the herd out.

Finally, Daniel's got himself a very good subcommander in Deus. -1 to atk is a bit of a downer, but in return Deus grants +1 to def, 35 men, and a new passive called Regenerate. This passive lets whatever commander takes him under their wing the ability to regenerate men after every battle. Quite useful and suits Daniel very well since him going down is a game over so prolonging his life in any way is greatly appreciated.

The fight probably could have been handled a bit better since Daniel got a little closer to going down than I'd like, but a couple lucky dodges helped minimize casualties. Only Keyser went down, but that's perfectly fine because he did his job as a giant defensive well extremely well.

After Leonius takes a nose dive and is forced to retreat, the battle report comes in with a surprising 96% for an A rank. I'll take it since the reward is the first buff spell I'll be able to utilize, Darkstrike. Costing 60 mp for dark aligned characters and 72 for everyone else, this grants a character the dark element for their physical strikes. This means someone like Bast can do boosted damage against light type enemies.

To be fair, the B rank reward from the battle would have been a fine pickup too in the form of Fireball, the 2nd tier fire spell.

After the battle, the scene switches over to Bergstadt where Banhk's figuring out a battle plan to deal with the rebels and their new negotiator in Daniel. Before he can really get things cooking, a ruckus stirs up outside his office and he orders his soldier to go check out just as the scene fades to black.

After that lovely check-in, Daniel's back at the castle. Erin should have returned from her business on the western front and is waiting for Daniel at the meeting hall. Head on over to check in on her to find out she's...not exactly happy with Daniel.

That ruckus we just saw? Turns out Rock decided to go forth with his personal plan of overthrowing Banhk, taking control of Bergstadt, and declaring Highland's independence. She takes her leave to return to the capital, leaving Daniel to briefly consider if he made the right decision before accepting his own fate.

The scene then flashbacks to the proposition that Rock was about to mention to Daniel before the screen went all dark. Basically, he sees how Kirgard and Zelmony are on more even playing fields with Keyser's defeat. So much so that they'd weaken themselves fighting each other enough that they'd be hard pressed to deal with Highland.

Rock's big plan? He wanted Daniel to, in essence, lie to Erin by saying the rebels have agreed to call off their involvement with Kirgard and stay neutral, allowing Rock's rebels to take control of Bergstadt as peacefully as possible while Daniel fends off Kirgard's attack. A very bold move, one that leaves no clear cut idea on when or if Erin finds out the truth.

After seeing a quick scene where Banhk is sentenced to death by hanging, the scene switches back to Daniel at the castle where Ayara's waiting outside his room. Seems Erin wants to see Daniel at Matrech to discuss what happened with the recent battle in more detail. Hoo boy.

More next time!
