ABOUT THE GAME:
Cuphead is a classic run and gun action game heavily focused on boss battles. Inspired by cartoons of the 1930s, the visuals and audio are painstakingly created with the same techniques of the era, i.e. traditional hand drawn cel animation, watercolor backgrounds, and original jazz recordings.
ABOUT THE STORY:
Cuphead, Mugman, and the Legendary Chalice (under the name Ms. Chalice) venture to DLC Island to defeat a bunch of bosses and collect ingredients so Chef Saltbaker can make the Wondertart that will make Chalice "as real as real can be".
Cuphead and Mugman are told that The Legendary Chalice needs their help and have to travel to a far-off isle. The Legendary Chalice, within the astral plane in her ghost form, offers Mugman a cookie. Mugman happily accepts it, not knowing that he and The Legendary Chalice would switch places, effectively turning her into Ms. Chalice (as well as turning him into his ghost form). Ms. Chalice takes them to meet Chef Saltbaker and unveil their grand scheme: creating the aforementioned Wondertart that will bring her back to life, permanently.
The three then travel around the island, fighting the residents there to obtain the ingredients. Once the all the ingredients are collected, the protagonists head back to the bakery to discover Chef Saltbaker's absence, and instead find a cellar basement underneath the building. They then travel through there to find him along with their missing friend. Saltbaker then explains that the Wondertart requires one soul and plans to eat it for his own benefit before battling the other protagonists. However, he is beaten into submission, and defeated as the missing friend is freed. However, after hearing that the building is about to crumble, all the characters evacuate. The bakery then is reduced to rubble as Chef Saltbaker mourns over his loss. Cuphead then tells Ms. Chalice that if the bakery is destroyed then she can't get her Wondertart. Ms. Chalice shrugs it off stating if it requires another soul, she won't buy it, as long as she gets new friends along the way.
Eventually, Chef Saltbaker is arrested and sent to court, where the judge orders him to do community service. This includes farming Glumstone's Gnome Berries, lifting barrels of beverages for Moonshire Mob, brush Mortimer's winter whale's teeth, paint the ferryman's boat, serve food at Winchester's saloon, and fix the Howling Aces' plane. He also gets to play chess with the King and Queen, before he's done with his service. Afterwards, Saltbaker decides to rebuild his bakery, and makes pastries for everyone, possibly as an apology gift.
Another helping of classic Cuphead action awaits you in Cuphead - The Delicious Last Course! Brothers Cuphead and Mugman are joined by the clever, adventurous Ms. Chalice for a rollicking adventure on a previously undiscovered Inkwell Isle! With the aid of new weapons, magical charms, and Ms. Chalice’s unique abilities, players will take on a new cast of fearsome, larger than life bosses to assist the jolly Chef Saltbaker in Cuphead’s final challenging quest!
