In the 2030s, a rare element from Mars is discovered to create super-powerful batteries. The Mellon Corporation quickly establishes humanity's first off-world mining outpost on the red planet, becoming the sole supplier of the new resource. The new batteries lead to an energy revolution on Earth and a massive windfall for Mellon, but its employees on Mars face increasingly deadly work conditions. Cut off from Earth and forced to keep laboring, a group of desperate workers rises up against the company...
In #MarsTactics, you lead either the rebel workers or Mellon Corp. to battle across the red planet.
- Classic Turn-Based Combat: Suppression, flanking, taking cover, line of sight, fog of war, friendly fire and more. Xcom and Jagged Alliance fans will feel right at home.
- Free Aim System: Units can target anything in their line of sight. That means you can shoot to kill, but also shoot to suppress or destroy cover. Unlock your tactical creativity.
- Advanced Suppression Mechanics: Getting shot reduces a unit's AP and their ability to act. Focus fire on a single target to keep them pinned while you flank around.
- Beat RNG: Negative outcomes like missing shots, getting injured or losing a squadmate create stress for each soldier. That stress can be used to execute special moves. Just remember, too much stress can also kill you.
- Unique Personalities: Your troops develop traits and abilities dynamically based on what happens in battle. If that rookie keeps hitting low % shots from afar, he can grow into a sniper. Adapt to the strengths/weaknesses of your troops and build unique squads in every playthrough.
- Ballistics and Destruction: Bullets act like real physical objects and missed shots can hit other enemies, allies or civilians. Most objects can be destroyed to remove cover and create new attack lines. Can't out-flank 'em? Blow a hole in the wall!
- Hand-Crafted Proc-Gen: Battle maps and the larger world are procedurally generated from custom-made building blocks. The goal is for each campaign to offer a fresh and balanced challenge.
- Emergent Economics: You're just one agent in a dynamic economy stretching across Mars and Earth. Supply and demand change with your actions but also based on what AI agents do.
- Squad Management: You will face multiple battle fronts. Your soldiers will get tired and injured, and some will be sent on special assignments. Managing a deep bench is crucial to win.
- Tactics + Strategy: Every decision impacts your short and long-term progress. Send your hot-shot veteran back in to battle or assign him to a mining outpost where he'll raise support for your cause and recruit rookies?
- Goal Oriented Action Planning (GOAP AI): Enemy soldiers and their commanders will try to think ahead and look for creative ways to accomplish their goals. Sometimes that means retreating to fight you another day.
- Meaningful Decisions: You're free to manage Mars how you want. Embrace the free market and earn big bucks? Redistribute profits to boost worker morale? Rule with an iron red fist? You will decide who controls Mars: capital or labor.
