LEMMINGS is based on the classic Lemmings series created in the early 90s. Players use tools like stairs and a directional blocker to guide lemmings to an exit in different locations. They'll need to strategically place objects to protect the lemmings from danger, such as adding an umbrella to let them float to the ground instead of falling to their doom. Players can tap on areas to have the lemmings dig their way through, reverse their direction, or blow up items with bombs. They can also speed up levels by clicking on a button.
Gamers place ladders, umbrellas, and other elements to help the lemmings reach an exit, but the lack of guidance and clear instruction can make the experience a little bit too hard for children. In Lemmings: The Puzzle Adventure, various threats need to be taken into account as you plan the lemmings' escape, like circular saws that could injure the creatures or structures they could fall off. They'll keep chugging and chirping along until they're given a new path or direction. Once players have set up a way to reach the exit, they can increase the speed everything moves at -- which is a nice option because it can help avoid having to slowly watch a plan be executed, which could take some time.
In Lemmings, kids will get a chance to flex some logic skills as they have to figure out what to build or place to direct the lemmings, but while the introductory tutorial is lengthy, it doesn't contain a lot of detail, so they may still be confused about some key elements. While Lemmings involves some other elements, such as unlocking new characters as you advance, most of the action involves trying to beat each level by getting the lemmings to the exit, so any confusion that arises can, unfortunately, become an ongoing issue. Given that the app is based on a game that's been in existence for some time, it's somewhat surprising that elements that would make playing easier seem to be absent; more guidance would definitely be helpful. Without it, players, especially younger ones, may find that Lemmings: The Puzzle Adventure presents more frustration than fun.
