Exploring the Campgrounds | Psychonaughts Walkthrough Part 3 PC
Psychonauts is a 2005 platform game developed by Double Fine Productions and published by Majesco Entertainment for Microsoft Windows, Xbox and PlayStation 2.
Set in a retro-futuristic version of the 1980s, Psychonauts follows Razputin (Raz), a young boy gifted with psychic abilities, who runs away from a circus to try to sneak into a summer camp for those with similar powers to become a "Psychonaut", a spy with psychic abilities. He finds that there is a sinister plot occurring at the camp that only he can stop.
I thought it best to revisit another classic from when I was younger and finally complete Psychonaughts after always remembering the bits of the game I have played fondly.
In terms of gameplay Psychonaught is a fairly standard collectathon style plat-former, and although the movement mechanics definitely have a satisfying feel to them with a real feeling of momentum that only improves as you unlock more psychic abilities. It is definitely the games story and setting along with all the characters involved that gives Psychonaughts a very unique identity that helps it stand out from the crowd.
With the games unique characters and their related levels it also gives the game much more depth than the cartoony art style may lead you to assume. With each of the characters potentially hinting at much more adult themes and how your mental state is effected by your life and how it in turn can affect your life; something I know the second game makes more of an effort to acknowledge and tackle more directly. But all this is told in a fun way with both the gameplay and wacky sense of humor Tim Schafer and Double Fine are known for.
I know that the look of the game is not everyone's cup of tea with the unique art style that has very strange character designs and level to explore. But I guarantee that even if it does initially put you of it just makes the game more interesting and allows for more varied levels and storytelling as you progress through the game.
I hope that you all enjoy this walkthrough as its a game that I still feel is a bit of a cult classic and I think deserves the proper remaster treatment in the engine that the second game was made in that looks fantastic. I will try and reach as close to 100% completion as possible and show off as many of the collectibles as possible as there is a secret cut-scene awarded for 100% completion that I hope to show of as part of the walkthrough.
Thanks for watching and if you enjoy the episode and are interested in the rest of the series make sure to like and subscribe for more.
