Exploring The Sea & Fighting Pirates In A Roguelike Deckbuilder | Pirate Outlaws 2 Demo Gameplay
Hello everyone! Here we are with another demo of an upcoming game. This is Pirate Outlaws 2: Heritage, sequel of Pirate Outlaws, and both are roguelike deckbuilders (I haven't played the first one). This game kinda plays as an RPG, but where every quest will be dealt with as a roguelike run, where, apparently, you can re-explore previously explore tiles after a while, but they will be harder. Also, the game is pseudo-turn-based; yes, you play your turns the classic roguelike deckbuilder way (5 cards in hand), but using ammunition instead of energy. However, enemies will play their turns depending on how many cards you played (or if you decided to skip your turn), which sounds like a cool idea, but it has a long way ahead instead of balance. At least for me, the game felt too easy when you start, but, after a few tiles, it felt punishingly hard.
Also, the game counts with a pretty unique upgrade mechanic, where you will upgrade your cards if you gather 3 of the same type. HOWEVER, most cards are pretty bad when you just get them, so until you manage to upgrade them, they will constantly be in the way, making the experience even more painful.
So far, not a big fan, but hopefully will get better in the future.
