Pikmin 2 is a direct sequel to the first game and starts off pretty much immediately where the first game ended. After a lot of hard work and difficult trials, Captain Olimar managed to repair his ship, the S.S. Dolphin, with the help of the Pikmin, and is now headed to his home planet Hocotate! But when he arrives, he meets his boss, the President of the company Hocotate Freight, that tells him some very bad news! The company is on the verge of bankruptcy! A new employee, Louie, was delivering some very rare and valuable Golden Pikpik carrots, when a huge space bunny appeared and ate them all! To cover the loss, the President had to take out a huge loan, and to repay the loan he had to start selling off the company assets. This includes the S.S. Dolphin, Olimar's newly repaired ship!!! But that still isn't enough money to cover payment of the loan... In shock, Olimar drops a giant bottlecap he was holding, which is then analyzed by an old Hocotate Freight ship. The old ship determines that the worth of this object is supposedly over 100 Pokos! Learning that Olimar found this object on the planet he crashed on, the President then sends both Olimar & Louie on an expedition there to find more treasures like this so they can repay the debt! Will they find enough treasure to repay the debt? What new creatures will they find on the planet? And will the Pikmin come to Olimar's aid once more?
This is one of my favorite Gamecube games. Extremely well designed and fun, also supports 2 players in a special battle mode and co-op in the challenge mode! It's been many long years since I played it, but I can feel it coming back to me in an instant! Compared to the first game, this one is much more indepth with new functions, new enemies and new Pikmin!
