Extra Mario Bros. is a Metroid-inspired SMB1 hack that's fairly ancient (as far as Mario mods go); I've watched a few playthroughs back in the day and it seemed pretty interesting in concept, but I've not played it myself, and it's been long enough since I gave it a good luck that I'll basically be going in fresh. We'll see how it goes!
