In F-Zero Climax, Survival mode is unlocked after beating Grand Prix in Master Mode. What Survival does offer is a wholly different challenge. Unlike in Grand Prix Mode, you have to complkete a series of missions, each with unique objectives. Succeed, and you will continue (leading to unlocking the pilot's profile and a synopsis from the anime). Fail, and you will lose a life. Just like Grand Prix, Survival has 4 difficulties: Tour, Challenge, Battle, and the last one: Violence.

Violence offers a true gauntlet. You'd be up against several racers, and they will usually come with randomized challenges if you choose to restart a run on Survival. Also, you only get 3 changes on Survival. Make it count.
