F1 2019 is the first game in the series to feature driver transfers, with AI-controlled drivers able to switch teams during or at the end of a championship year. These moves are randomly-generated rather than scripted events.

The game includes 18 Formula 1 cars from F1 2018 from the 1972–2010 seasons.

Players are able to design liveries—including fictional sponsors—for a generic 2019 car in multiplayer modes.
