Face Shield OSHA Compliance
Face shields must be provided for any equipment that may produce flying debris, such as grinders, wire wheels, chop saws, table saws, sanders and so on. They must be available at the location of the piece of equipment. One way to accomplish this is to create a safety station near the work area. This safety station was created by mounting a piece of board to the wall, and attaching an eye-wash station, a large zip-bag including goggles, a face shield, and leather gloves, and applying applicable hazard warning stickers regarding the use of the grinder. Face shields must be kept clean. OSHA may cite a business for providing employees with dirty face shields, as it may obstruct the employees ability to see the equipment properly, or deter the employee's use of the equipment. Instruct your employees on how to properly use all safety equipment, and make sure that employees return the equipment to its properly designated safety station.
