It may sound ludicrous but yes, we're playing on peaceful mode and we've got biter problems! To be fair to the biters, they are getting run over so I'd be pissed too. Unfortunately for us, we no military tech available so it's a tough slog to clear the tiny base that is causing the issues. All this means is that we need to get some military tech sooner rather than later.
