These Iron and Copper Casting Blueprints can be used in the late-game when you are starting to improve your production using items unlocked from the planetary sciences.
No Factory can function without iron and copper plates. so that is a pretty good reason to want a good setup for making these items, these setups cannot smelt quality ores, so when smelting quality ores you will need to use a different smelting setup.
