Failure Marketing #GDoCExpo 2020
In this GDoCExpo 2020 talk we'll hear Victoria Tran of Innersloth tell us all about her marketing campaigns that flopped. Because we've all heard the successful game marketing stories, yet in a world where you hear about the hits, you need to hear the other side. This talk is full of desolate contests, misspelled emails, and forgetfulness, and you'll hear from an indie game communications "professional" who will explore how: 1) mistakes will/should happen 2) there is a way to "correctly" fail and 3) the best lessons come from failure. Let's go past the embarrassment, learn how to bounce back, and celebrate failing!
Victoria Tran recently became the Communications Director at innersloth, and indie studio known for the hit game Among Us. She is former Communications Director at Kitfox Games, an indie studio in Montreal, Canada creating intriguing worlds like 'Boyfriend Dungeon' and 'Lucifer Within Us'. Additionally, they are publishing 'Dwarf Fortress' and 'Mondo Museum' to Steam. When she is not exploring ways to create kinder game community spaces, she also does community consultations and co-organizes Game and Colour, a group for devs of colour in Montreal.
