The Dark Tower is more than just another YA franchise, it's a fantasy/horror series with all kinds of opportunities for amazing sequences and characters. Reducing it to another 'super hero fish out of water' film was a gigantic mistake. I also think Roland should be played by someone who more closely resembles his description in the book: a lean pale man who looks a bit like Clint Eastwood or JFK. Edris is a fine actor but he was miscast in the movie. There's so much to the first book they could remake and do better: the massacre at Tull, the Slow Mutants, the Crimson King, the history of The Gunslinger and the original Ka-Tet!
Heck, if you want to just give Roland the horn of Eld at the beginning...fans will understand!
