Disco Elysium begins with your character awakening from a near fatal alcohol binge that has completely erased his memory. From there the player decides nearly everything: the characters name he goes by, his philosophy, his profession. Sure the world tells you you're a cop, but what if you'd like to be a doomsday prophet, a superstar, or a social agitator instead? If you do decide to honor the badge (after you find it) you'll uncover a web of corruption and murder wracking an already war-rocked seaport.
Oh well: you'll always have Disco.
