As prices of antiquities and art works from Cambodia, Burma, Indonesia, and Thailand have soared in recent decades, fakes have flooded the market. Sometimes they are easy to spot, but sometimes they have been made with great care to fool the experts. The situation is even more complicated when fragments of genuine pieces are combined with newly made but painstakingly aged parts. This fully illustrated talk shows how lab science and historical detective work are brought together at the Asian Art Museum to sort out what's what.
