Fallout 4 | 21:9 Review [2560x1080/60fps/Ultrawide]
WATCH UPDATED VERSION HERE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f55DpXeeTVk
A look at Fallout 4 in 21:9
21:9 Mod:
Open Fallout4Prefs.ini in your documents (C:\Users\[name]\Documents\My Games\Fallout4\), and change the following lines to how they are below:
For borderless windowed mode:
bTopMostWindow=1
bMaximizeWindow=1
bBorderless=1
bFull Screen=0
iSize H=XXXX
iSize W=YYYY
OR
For fullscreen mode:
bTopMostWindow=0
bMaximizeWindow=0
bBorderless=0
bFull Screen=1
iSize H=XXXX
iSize W=YYYY
Where YYYY is whatever your horizontal resolution is and XXXX is whatever your vertical resolution is, e.g 2560 and 1080
Next do the same for the second Fallout4Prefs.ini located in wherever your steam is installed then steamapps\common\Fallout 4\Fallout 4.
CHANGE THE FOV:
You need to change 3 different files for this. Two files called Fallout4Prefs.ini in two different locations (the ones we just changed for ultrawide support) and one called Fallout4.ini, all three need to be changed as below. The fov value NEEDS to be a multiple of 10 to work.
Firstly go to your Fallout4.ini (located at C:\Users\[name]\Documents\My Games\Fallout4\) and under [Display] paste in the following under everything in this section
fDefaultWorldFOV=XX
fDefault1stPersonFOV=YY
* XX is you desired fov in third person.
* YY is the desired fov in first person.
(I set both to 90)
Next go to the Fallout4Prefs.ini, same location as above, (C:\Users\[name]\Documents\My Games\Fallout4\), paste in the following under everything in this section
fDefaultWorldFOV=XX
fDefault1stPersonFOV=YY
put the same XX and YY values as previously.
Next do the same for the second Fallout4Prefs.ini located in wherever your steam is installed then steamapps\common\Fallout 4\Fallout 4. So again under [Display] add the below:
fDefaultWorldFOV=XX
fDefault1stPersonFOV=YY
using the same XX and YY values as in the two previous files
Your FOV should now be changed for both first and third person. :)
ADDITIONAL POINT FOR FOV
If your gun model (and pip body fov) is too small, press ~, then type fov XX, where XX is a smallish number if you want it to be larger on screen and vice versa. Play around with numbers to get best fix. Next type in ‘refreshini’, doing so will make it so your game will not revert to the default. I didn’t have to do this but it’s here incase you want to
UNLOCK FPS:
If you are getting microstutter or the game is randomly stuck at 30fps, then try unlocking your fps. To do this open Fallout4Pref.ini (located at C:\Users\[name]\Documents\My Games\Fallout4\).
Search for the line iPresentInterval=1, and change it to iPresentInterval=0
Next to use vsync got to the nvidia control panel or amd equivalent and apply vysnc here to avoid screen tearing.
Your other option is to just use borderless windowed mode, if so try using borderless windowed mode values in the 21:9 fix section in this description (above)
Credit for all this info goes to Gabi on steam, Thanks! :)
