Additional info:
- The phrase "ace in the hole" is used to describe something that can supply a sure victory when revealed. An old American slang (dating from before 1920s), it may have originated from five-card stud poker, in which one of the card in each player's hand is kept face down (in the hole) from being viewed by other players until showdown, thus not reviewing the strength of the hand until the end.
- A "Benny" is a trump card in trick-taking games, essentially a wild card, and is often represented by the Joker, which is Benny's card in the Collector's Edition deck.
- An event would have Benny meeting the Courier again after being freed from the Fort. In the event Benny would have equipped a Stealth Boy in order to sneak up on the Courier and initiate dialogue in which he would mock them for showing him mercy and after that go into attack mode, which would most likely cause him to be killed by the Courier. This event was cut from the final game.
- Benny was at one point considered to become a possible companion, but due to the lack of development time this idea was dropped.

Summary:
The story has taken some parts from the Fallout and Fallout 2 stories, and is for the most part unrelated to its predecessor, Fallout 3.
Fallout: New Vegas takes place in 2281, four years after the events of Fallout 3, thirty-nine years after Fallout 2, and one-hundred-twenty years after Fallout. The New California Republic plays a major part in the game's story, being in a three-way struggle amongst the Caesar's Legion slavers, and the mysterious Mr. House.
