The Finals is a fast-paced, adrenaline-charged FPS developed by Embark Studios, throwing players into frenzied multiplayer battles where they choose from three unique archetypes: Light, Medium, or Heavy. Each role demands a distinct playstyle—Light characters are swift and elusive, excelling at ambushes and quick maneuvers. Medium strikes a balance, offering versatile tools and decent mobility. Heavy, though cumbersome, thrives on soaking up damage and tearing down environments.
A standout element of the game is its completely destructible arenas. Walls crumble, structures collapse, and chaos reshapes the battlefield in real time, ensuring that no skirmish plays out the same way twice. The entire experience has a game-show vibe, complete with artificial skies and a quirky respawn system where players “coin in” like in an arcade. Instead of blood, defeated foes burst into showers of golden coins, adding to the showbiz aesthetic.
The main mode, Quick Cash, has teams of three racing to crack vaults, grab the loot, and deposit it at designated Cashout points. The twist? Other squads can hijack the process, leading to frantic battles over the spoils before the deposit completes, making each objective a chaotic flashpoint.
Each class changes the feel of combat: Light prioritizes speed and risk, Medium brings adaptability and support, and Heavy focuses on brute force and environmental havoc. Fights are wild and intense, though some players may find the time-to-kill on the slower side—unless you're using the agile Light build. With no fall damage, players can sprint, jump, and dive with total freedom, emphasizing momentum and verticality.
Customization is a major feature too, letting players fully personalize their look with various cosmetic options. While some balancing issues persist—such as the current dominance of stealth tactics and shotguns—and a growing concern over cheating, The Finals distinguishes itself with its fusion of mayhem, strategy, and spectacle. It’s already carved out a space in the crowded FPS genre and shows strong potential for future growth.
