Each successful drop nets your team $10,000, with victory going to the first squad to accumulate $20,000. While the mechanics seem simple on the surface, real gameplay demands tactical finesse and constant adaptability against relentless opponents.
Adding to the competitive thrill, virtual hosts Scotty and June provide energetic live commentary, giving each match the high-stakes feel of a televised tournament.
The maps offer a wide range of environments, each with unique layouts and interactive elements. Seoul is split into three zones encircling a central spire, while Vegas crams intense firefights into compact, casino-themed interiors.
Variety is further boosted through ever-changing map conditions—suspended walkways, active construction zones with moving cranes, and more. Environmental changes like nighttime, heavy fog, or chaotic random events (think alien invasions, meteor showers, altered damage values, or low gravity) keep every match feeling fresh and unpredictable.
Players choose from three archetypes—light, medium, and heavy—each with exclusive loadouts, abilities, and gear that bring layers of strategic depth. That said, not all combinations perform equally in practice.

Explosives can be used to carve new routes or eliminate enemies, and carrying a cash box through collapsing buildings adds a thrilling layer of tension. Tactical opportunities also come from the environment itself—like explosive barrels or pressure tanks scattered throughout the map.
Progression blends gear unlocks with cosmetic customization. New weapons, tools, and abilities can be earned via VR points gained during gameplay, while outfits and skins are accessible by leveling up, shopping in the in-game store, or advancing through the premium battle pass.
The audio design is top-notch, with distinctive sound cues and a reactive soundtrack that escalates in intensity during critical moments. The mix of immersive sound effects and musical build-up delivers a high-octane, cinematic atmosphere.
In a genre full of lookalikes, The Finals carves out its niche through destructible maps, varied battlegrounds, and meaningful tactical choices. Despite a few rough edges, its originality and high energy make it a standout experience that’s hard to put down.
