Why is Chloe so important? I mean I know she is a wonderful character and many people have fallen in love with her. But why is she so central to the story?
Why is the universe seemingly trying so hard to kill her?

And why is it that it seems like our job as Max, is to protect her? That seems to be a major theme in the game. Protect Chloe. No matter how much it costs us, we must protect Chloe. Itβs even a major event to tell Chloe that we will always protect her.

And it seems really important to Chloe to feel protected and cared for by another person. Yes this is obviously a story arch of a romance or friendship. But this has to be important to the broader sense of things within Life is Strange.
I have no doubt that we will bring Chloe back from the dead again. And she is going to have a purpose that is much more important than we all realize. She symbolizes Death, but is that a bad thing?
What is really making the storm? In the alternate universe, where it is implied that Max never got her powers, the cosmic events are still happening. And Rachel is still murdered.
