Some technical details:
I'm playing the GOG version of the game with some mods:
1. FarOut Widescreen mod (Allows proper 16:9 aspect ratio and custom FOV )
2. Unofficial patch 1.41 (Not really a mod but fixes some bugs)
3. Silent Patch (To fix the reflections)
4. Tent AI bug fix (AI cannot see you through tents)

I have enabled devmode to set a hotkey to increase the vegetation LOD. I'll be demonstrating that early in the video. FOV is also set to 120. FPS is capped at 120.

Now for additional details:

The original Far Cry released 20 years ago on 23 March 2004 and since I love this game, what other way to celebrate this than by beating the whole game on realistic difficulty.

For those who don't know, realistic is the hardest difficulty in the game. Enemies do a ridiculous amount of damage (as you'll expect for 'realistic'). I also find out during this playthrough that enemies take a little bit more damage. Since this is the first time I'm actually playing on this difficulty, this caught me off guard a bit since the MP5 requires 2 headshots to kill instead of one.

Now, maybe you're asking how am I gonna survive since this is my first playthrough. In all my previous playthroughs on lower difficulty, I try my best to take no damage so this carries over to realistic since enemies don't seem to behave differently. The game says they do but I did not notice anything abnormal.

I wanted this video to go live exactly on 23 March 2024 but I did not have enough time and video editing this took a long time. I wanted to include all my deaths in this video but this would have made this video even longer so I'll be making a separate a death montage video. Stay tuned for that.

If you see the game saving and then immediately a loading screen, that probably means I died. I was adding captions to tell you that in the video but that just takes too long and I gave up and just added captions of parts where I didn't die.
