Welcome to GreenRiver 2017! Situated in the Netherlands (but could just about be anywhere in the world), this map orginally developed for FS15 made its way to FS17 just a few months ago. This map is quite unique as while it offers large fields, yet has the feel of a smaller rural farm. I'll be taking a break from using the really large equipment featured on maps like MidtownUSA and Tazewell Co. and focusing on more medium sized equipment (with a few exceptions of course). Another appealing reason for GreenRiver is I've been looking for a good Belgium map and as GR is situated in the Netherlands, this will be a very close alternative.
For my "Let's Play" on GreenRiver, I'm starting my game play in Spring and playing 9 day seasons with the Seasons mod. While traditional farming will be the main focus, the crops produced will be used to power many industries I've placed on the map including straw/hay pellet production, bio-diesel, BGA and compost production facilities (perhaps even a bit of logging). In addition, all three animal types will be raised for the purpose of adding to our overall revenue stream.
My plan is to utilize 9 fields to grow crops consisting of wheat, barley, canola, sunflower, soybeans and sugarbeets. Wheat/Sugarbeets will be used to produce pig feed. Canola to power the production of bio-diesel. The remaining crops will be sold with the hopes these alone will cover much of the operating costs. Hopefully the sell of milk, wool, pigs, pellets and compost will be 100% profit.
We'll start with a mere $25,000 cash in the bank with all the equipment we should need already bought and paid for. Any additional costs incured will be taken in the form of a bank loan (if needed). The 25K will be used to cover the costs of getting our fields plowed, fertilized, cultivated and planted for the upcoming fall harvests. As I'm considering this the second year of operation, we will have access to a limited amount of materials which can be used to get the production facilities running in early spring.
