Farming Simulator 19 Ravensberg Part 01 Day 1 Preparations
1So, this is my second time when I got tempted into playing Farming Simulator 19 with the goal to completely play through a single map or a dozen of maps in a specific way:
- I will use a ton of mods to make the gameplay more interesting and suitable for my tastes, if you have any questions about mods, I should be able to answer them :)
- I will try to be as realistic as possible in terms of driving and travel: I will only use fast travel and teleport into vehicles in case of glitches or to find a specific vehicle. This will of course make the game more difficult and, seemingly, more boring. However, it adds an element of careful planning and strategic thinking, especially at the beginning, when buying all the stuff; it will also make low loaders for vehicles more important. What's more, I will mainly drive in 1st person camera and use 3rd person only in specific situations;
- my purpose is simply to fully complete the map (buy all the available land, exhaust all the resources); to somehow add more into it, I use the Extended Finances mod, which adds a subvention every day according to land owned (although there are some variables that I don't understand and am trying to figure them out: do you have to mow grass like in real life? keep it cultivated? do non-agricultural lands generate lower/negative income?); thus, I also added a roleplay element e.g., if I buy a residential area, I am responsible for mowing the grass and general maintenance of such area (so that money from subventions serve as remuneration for services); that is why, at some point, I turned off the plant growing mechanic, to be able to "clear" certain areas, but it also makes the game more interesting and difficult because of limited resources on the map;
- although this is FARMING Simulator, I prefer the forestry mechanics, I think this game is, at the same time, the best Lumberjack Simulator out there :) I also like lawn and grass mowing for silage and other purposes.
- the last but not least "roleplay" element is continuity of gameplay i.e., I always find it disappointing when games do not offer a sense of continuity between levels/maps, so that you can keep your progress and start another map/level as an experienced/rich adventurer/entrepreneur/survivalist. So, I decided that once I find a certain map complete, I will sum up the finances and when starting a new map, I will edit the save game file according to my already accumulated wealth. Let's say that I just want to be a rich guy who just moves his business to a new area, some maps are more challenging, some offer less materials to gain profit from, so it does not necessarily mean that I will always end up richer than before the map. In the end, it will be my ultimate farming experience :)

Why did you/Why haven't you...?
I am a complete noob using a heap of mods; expect many stupid decisions, pointless purchases, glitches and total confusion. I am learning the game mechanics on the go :) What's more, I am an insanely patient person. If I bother cutting a whole forest with just a chainsaw, it's because I just want to relax doing so.
Your channel is called pure gameplays on hard, so why are you plaing on regular difficulty?
I tested the game both on easy and hard. While easy seems a bit too... easy, the highest difficulty is simply an endless grind and it would take me forever to even achieve the smallest short-term goals. It does not add any challenge, it only adds time consumption.
Why bother uploading such gameplays without any commentary?
First of all, for the small group of people who simply like some gameplay footage playing in the background while they are working/doing stuff on the computer (I am one of those). What is more, many people just want to see how gameplay and mods look and work in general, without an added bonus in form of an over-emotional youtuber being more of a distraction than help. YouTube is already oversaturated with such channels, this channel is something different (hence less successful, but it still gives me satisfaction :)). Second of all, for my gamification purposes ("Wait, what? Gamifying your gaming?" All story short: yes).
What recording software/equipment do you use?
I use AverMedia Live Gamer Portable 2 4k Plus. Although I have set the recording quality to medium, because this game seems to use a high bitrate, 2-3 hours of gameplay weigh 20-30 gigs. That's a lot of disk space to handle and a lot of strain on the SD card. Using the highest video quality would be even more demanding with hardly noticeable increase in visuals (or they would even be worse/blurry whenever the footage is too dynamic).
Do you like simulation games? Are you a truck driver/farmer yourself?
I have played lots of simulation games, but I think FS and ETS series are the best that the genre offers. IRL, I am a translator, so I have contact with many industries every day. My side-hobbies also change quite often. For the time being, it's heavy machinery :D
