3Як і в минулих іграх серії, гравець має займатися вирощуванням польових культур і тваринництвом в американських та європейських локаціях; одержані культури можна продавати за ігрову валюту, яку надалі можна витрачати на придбання інструментів та техніки. У грі була покращена система бджільництва, яке було введено раніше в Farming Simulator 2017 – гравець зможе купити вулики та збирати з бджіл мед . Розміщення вуликів поруч із деякими культурами, такими як ріпак, картопля та соняшник, збільшує врожайність за рахунок запилення . Також у гру були додані теплиці, в яких гравець може вирощувати такі культури, як полуниця, помідори та салат-латук.

The main innovation was the appearance of seasons: while previous games in the series took place exclusively in the summer, in Farming Simulator 22 the seasons change. This innovation was one way or another based on a custom modification of Seasons, specially developed for previous games in the series by the user Realismus Modding
