Fast or Dead VR is an arcade driving shooter. You are a mercenary in a zombie wasteland, that has to deliver cargo from point A to B. Its not a simple drive though. You will have to plow through hordes of zombies and take down bandits all while staying alive and protecting the cargo. Doing this will earn you cash that you can use to buy new rides, or pimp out the ones you already own. You have stats to upgrade and can custom paint your rides.
The game has three types of play styles. One where you will be driving from A to B with no weapons, just plowing down zombies and avoiding bandits. Two where the vehicle is on auto pilot and you just focus on shooting. Third is a mix of one and two. Where you will be driving and shooting while navigating the map to the cargo drop off point. The end results are the same for all three modes, survival, and protect the cargo. At the end of each successful run you will be awarded money. You will use this money to buy new rides or up the stats of your current rides.
You can use a game controller, keyboard, or your motion controllers to play. I used the motion controls, and found it easy to play. The game world has a nice wasteland look to it, but the graphics felt a little dated for a PCVR game. Running over hordes of zombies though, feels good.
I loved having full control of the vehicle and gun at the same time, and wish all the game could be played this way. The going from auto pilot, to no weapons, to full control was not my cup of tea. I feel the game would of really shined if you always had weapons and control of your ride. The unlocking new vehicles and customization of their stats is a nice feature, and will have you aiming to make the most coin possible in each run.
If you are into arcade style zombie wastelands, where you can plow down zombies with your vehicles and avoid bandits you will want to take this game for a spin. As I said though, I would of enjoyed the gameplay much more if we always had control of the vehicles and had weapons.
