3One thing I'm slowly beginning to understand is that the Girl in Black is a lot more complicated than she first appears. It's clear she's a manifestation of the doll Sakuya gave Misaki ten years prior. The lore implies Sakuya placed part of her soul in the doll in a desperate to have something that reminds herself and others about her existence. To be remembered as she herself forgets who she is. The lore also implies powerful spirit mediums like Sakuya and Misaki tend to take on secondary personalities and could even affect each other as spirits inhabit them. But it would appear that isn't just spirits of the dead that could inhabit them. But possibly even each others souls. Which makes me believe the Girl In Black is a spirit amalgam- a blending of both Sakuya and Misaki's souls - as they looked after the doll and referred it to themselves while in their possession.
