Fatal Labyrinth, titled Labyrinth of Death (死の迷宮) in Japan, is a role-playing video game developed and published by Sega. Originally available exclusively on the Sega Meganet multiplayer gaming service in 1990 where users could play select Sega titles, it was later remade for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive in 1991.

The game is similar to and shares assets with Dragon Crystal, which was also released around that time, which serves as a faithful and solid portable edition of this game with its own story and unique dynamics.

The player controls a hero who has agreed to enter a forbidden labyrinth, battle various monsters, and make way up to the 30th floor where an evil dragon guards a stolen Holy Goblet which contains the light that has the power to banish the darkness that threatens the world.

Although Fatal Labyrinth does have a very basic experience points system, it is not exactly a typical turn-based or action RPG. It shares elements with roguelike games, with a much simpler storyline and gameplay. Just as in roguelike games, each level and its contents are randomly generated, similar to games such as Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, simply put, items, enemy placements, and level structures are made differently each time upon loading a game, meaning every playthrough is unique, and can be made easier, or more difficult based on a combination of the players skill and luck.

Like many role-playing games, gold is present, hilariously though the only purpose it serves is to provide the player character with a better funeral service upon death. The more gold collected in the game, the more detailed the hero's grave. More people will attend the hero's funeral based on their level when killed.

This game is one of simplicity, find out what everything you discover does, either good or bad, and then use your knowledge and skill to accomplish your mission, this game is one that I cannot predict what will unfold, which will make for a fun, and hopefully entertaining adventure I hope you shall all enjoy.

In a small village, a lone, ordinary person, takes up the call to enter the forbidden labyrinth, and do what must be done to save the world, armed with only a small dagger, and their own creativity and knowledge, they take off, to save the world, reclaim the holy goblet, and banish the dark creatures to ensure the safety of the world.

Bravely, they enter...The Fatal Labyrinth.
