I had done some character modeling/rigging/animation a few years before but they weren't to the extent to what I wanted and I thought I take a more in-depth project into character from modeling to animation. The purpose of this was to test out the rig I had made and to explore the various movements the rig afforded, as well it served as a test of how robust and flexible the rig was. I also found it useful when it came to painting the weights as I could spot problem areas and stamp those out.

The character is Fate Testarossa from the show "Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha", I chose her because she had long hair and I also modeled her weapon a few years ago so I could just attach that later. Also I wanted to model a character which I can use in a fight animation if I ever find the time to do a project like that. Her character also permitted the use of Maya nCloth which I was itching to try out.

I do have a project in mind but I need to model Nanoha's character first and then a city for them to fight in. Not sure if I'll find the time to do it seeing as modeling took almost a month and skinning the rig to the character took some time too. In all likelihood I probably won't have time to make a fight between Fate and Nanoha but it's something I really want to see.

私は昔にキャラクターのプロジェクト作った、でもプロジェクトはけっこシンプルだった。今回キャラクターはちゃんと作りたい。このビデオ作る理由はキャラクターリグ「Character Rig」をテストの為。できる動きやどこまで動けるわかった。作るの間にいろんな問題発見した。ここに「Paint Weights」ということも助けてくれた。

キャラクターは魔法少女リリカルなのはのフェイト・テスタロッサ。私は彼女を作る選んだ理由は高い髪はマヤの「nCloth」のシステム使える。そしてフェイトの武器「バルディッシュ」三年前に作った使用されたい。あと、将来にフェイトとなのはの大きい戦い作りたい、戦えるキャラクター作りたい。でも時間がないかも、戦いの作るはできないかも。
