Father Servo | CONCLUSION - NieR: Automata
After many encounters with the wise/crazy monk, it's finally over. I actually was able to really pay attention and soak it in more while editing this, and it actually really made me tear up.
I can't believe he's gone :(
But in less sad news, this is the long of chip-fusing for anyone who doesn't know already.
Diamond chips mean that that chip has the lowest cost for its level. A base level chip's lowest cost is 4; A +1 chip's lowest cost is 5, a +2's is 6; A +3's lowest cost is 7; A +4's is 9; A +5's is 11; A +6's is 14. That's as far as I got so far. Basically, if they have a diamond, they're as low as they go and you should keep them.
When you fuse two chips, the new chip takes the combined cost of the two that made it, and averages it out / divides it by 2. This often will lead to a half number left over. If you're fusing two base chips, +1 chips, +3 chips, or +5 chips, the game will round this number down. If fusing any +2 chips or +4 chips, it'll round the number up.
This means that, if you want to fuse for a diamond +3 or +5 chip, you HAVE to fuse two diamond +2 or +4 chips. But, to get a diamond +1, +2, +4, or +6 chip, you only need one diamond base, +1, +3, or +5 chip, and the other can be one cost higher. It'll round it down and still give you a new diamond chip.
So tl;rd, keep any diamond base chips and ones that cost 5 space. Keep any diamond +1 chips and ones that cost 6 space. Only keep diamond +2 chips. Keep any diamond +3 chips and ones that cost 8 space. Only keep diamond +4 chips. And keep any diamond +5 chips and ones that cost 12 space. Then, as long as one of the base, +1, +3, or +5 chips that you're fusing is a diamond, the chip you make will be a diamond one as well.
