In this week’s Quick Fix It Friday, I picked up a faulty Game Boy Advance from eBay with a common issue — a broken power switch and a missing battery cover. In this video, I tear it down, identify the problem, attempt a soldering fix (with a few hiccups along the way), and get it working again with a new replacement switch.
We’ll take a closer look under the microscope, perform a delicate trace repair using enameled wire, and bring this handheld back to life. It’s not looking great cosmetically just yet, but that’s coming next. In a future episode, I’ll be reshelling this unit and fitting a modern IPS screen.
