The first chapter where we suffer a turn loss compared to a proper run of the game (I suppose, with the exception of chapter 2 where Vanessa could shave off a turn with multiple slim lance crits on peakwalking bandits), and I did do my best to go as fast as I could here. While the path to the throne is linear, the enemies we have to rout aren't all encountered on our way, and we need to slow down in the beginning, towards the middle and then again at the end to really kill every last one of them.

Ephraim is the 2nd and ultimately THE lord in this challenge run, being Dimitri's spiritual ancestor as an infantry lance lord who can get on a horse (though Dimitri wants a wyvern in an efficient run, much like everyone else in his weird game). His bases are pretty good, emphasising speed with good enough stats across the board everywhere else. His Prf weapon is like Eirika's with effectiveness against armours and cavs, but with more power and a lack of weapon triangle disadvantage allowing him to actually starting OHKOing some of them very early.

He is accompanied by three mounts in this chapter, who can fight pretty well, Orson in particular, and whose mobility makes this relatively quick clear actually possible. Orson is Seth lite who's only available for this map, and we couldn't have done this without him. 8 mov, silver sword access (though he has no issue ORKOing with just about anything else, not unlike Seth) and promoted stats make him reign supreme here.

Kyle and Forde are our other cavaliers and potential paladins to potentially join Franz in routing the maps with high mobility. Franz has already certified a clear lead in offensive stats, his level-ups not favouring defence however. Kyle is valuable here as a bulkier cav at base, though his offensive stats require some work. He's almost as close to promotion as Franz is, starting a level below Forde. Forde is... disliked a lot, but I don't see him as a bad unit in the slightest. He can promote earlier than Kyle and has a +1 spd advantage at the expensive of losing -2 str (which is important indeed, but so is the ability to double units). He is sure to see heavy use due to being a 7 mov unit with passable combat, and we'll see if anything comes out of him.

Instead of rushing all the way north, I rescuedrop Ephraim to allow the killing of an armour knight guarding the room with a killer lance and an elixir. A killer lance would be very handy to have, but I really can't afford losing one of the four units to retrieve it due to all the logistics of being in a long map. I'm sure I won't mind having the extra chest key for later, too, as I will have more opportunities to open chests on maps that have them (which isn't all that many to be frank). Just Ephraim and Orson carrying him would suffice in a normal run, but I have to rout all these enemies out of the way necessitate a strong rescue-dropping squad, so all four are valuable.

While I make a point of killing that armour, I do not engage the archer, who attacks Ephraim for a little while. He can be baited from across the wall later when we're approaching the throne. When going inside the narrow corridor, Ephraim has to risk getting by a fighter and has to be rescuedropped to enter the attack range of the two distant cavaliers (which we are not dealing with any other way) and the remaining soldier. Reginleif really helps here.

In the narrow corridor, Orson ORKOs a fighter in the killer lance treasure room with a javelin, counterkilling the 1-2 range mages (representing the entire magic triangle between the three of them) on the enemy phase. Things get tricky here, as Orson we emerge out of the corridor with hard-hitting Fighters threatening Ephraim and multiple 1-2 enemies still remaining alive, to be picked on by Orson, whose javelin is getting closer and closer to breaking.

Forde stays in to bait an archer from across the wall while Ephraim and Kyle head for the throne. Orson travels to the extreme east to bait an archer that's way out of range otherwise, later returning to the archer who was attacking us on turn 1 to one-round him.

I had pretty good luck (or rather, managed to arrange through hard work) with the level-ups in this map. Kyle levelled the two offensive stats getting a level and a half, which will be of great help later on, whilst Ephraim levelled strength four times and speed twice during his four levels.

When the map is over, Orson breaks the javelin and remains unequipped. Exactly as planned...
