Tux Racer is one of the first original open-source games that achieved a massive following. When it comes to the gameplay though, there isn't that much to say. In Tux Racer, while you can play as the flag-ship character Tux, the Linux mascot, you can also choose from an assortment of other characters as well. The goal of the game is very simple. You go down the course collecting as much herrings as possible before the specified time, otherwise losing the race.

Tux Racer was a very massive hit among the open-source crowd. For any Linux user who had 3D acceleration, Tux Racer became a must-download game. Now for me, I only experienced this game for the longest of times with the Windows port before finally trying the Linux version on Ubuntu much later. While the game is very simple in plot, it's very enjoyable for those quick 15-minute burst of fun.

VMware Player 17 is virtualizing a x86 multimedia PC with a single core processor (AMD Ryzen 5 5500 6-Core Host with each core running at 4.2GHz), 3GB of RAM, and a VESA Compatible display with 3D Acceleration Enabled. Windows is running at the screen resolution of 800 by 600, 32-bit color depth. The VM also has a HD audio device, and an AMD PCnet NIC. Windows XP SP3 is installed with the Plus!98 "Inside My Computer" theme that was copied over from a Windows 98 installation.
