FF7 Removing Vincent and Sephiroth's Status Immunities
A few days ago, I was asked by HeartlessKuja what were to happen if Vincent during his Limit Break or Sephiroth were to be afflicted with the Confusion, Berserk of Frog status.
As party members controlled by AI, which is the case for Sephiroth and also for Vincent as long as he is using his Limit Breaks, automatically gain immunity to these 3 status ailments, one could imagine strange things would occur if one still afflicted them with these status effects.
As it turns out, strange things do happen, but nothing all too exciting is to be seen.
Vincent is entirely unaffected by both Confusion and Berserk (Berserk only increases the damage of his physical Limit Breaks), he will still target only enemies and randomly choose his magical (30% chance) or physical attack (70% chance).
Frog, on the other hand, completely incapacitates him. It is unclear what exactly he is trying to execute but he fails at doing so.
Sephiroth reacts differently to these status changes compared to Vincent. Whereas Berserk (except for the increase of physical damage) does not affect him either and still enables him to cast magic, Confuse does. In fact, under Confusion, Sephiroth will simply target one's party instead of the enemies.
Finally, Frog, apart from reducing the damage of his physical attacks, does not impair Sephiroth in any way. He will unabashedly continue making use of his impressively feeble elemental spells or attack physically.
