Let me just point out why this segment is odious.

It includes
encounter skipping,
very annoying non-freestyling (floor 65),
elevator luck,
the sneaking section,
lots of text,
lots of encounters,
lots of everything.

It might be obvious why some of this and the mere amount of parameters is terrible. Actually, however, it is even much worse.

Clearly, the elevator is the main reason. Whereas a lot of the other points, albeit being the cause of some pain themselves, can be practiced until virtual perfection, that cannot be said about the elevator. In fact, it is all about luck and so to a far greater extent than you might think at first glance.

Not only is it necessary to have as few battles as possible during one's ascent but also do the battles one does get have to be done as quickly as possible and without using all too many Grenades. The first aspect might be evident, the second one is not any less meaningful though.
As I could afford to buy only a truly very scarce amount of Grenades, I need to use them as efficiently as possible, which is also why I use Bolt in one instance instead of a Grenade. Additionally, I do rely on Grenade drops. Even though I did not get any Grenades after the mandatory Grenade Combatant battle upon entering the Shinra HQ, I was able to pick up two after an elevator battle.

The Mighty Grunt battle was not perfect as one of them was able to attack me, which made me lose around 3 seconds.

The sneaking section, by contrast, was okay as I passed it in the fastest possible way.

In the second part of this segment, I guessed the mayor's password, which is completely luck-based as well since one loses around 3 seconds per additional attempt. Yet, it is still faster than looking up the password provided one needs three attempts at most.

Afterwards, I finished this off with Encounter Skipping and pointless dialogue.
