This works on any PC version (original 1998 version, Square Enix 2012 re-release, Steam Version). This method does, however, not work on any other version because it requires one to make use of the PC exclusive Yuffie Warping glitch.

In addition to getting a Level 1 Yuffie, one can also get a Level 1 Cid by using a different Yuffie Warping setup. In fact, it is possible to have and keep both a Level 1 Cid and a Level 1 Yuffie on the same save file.

I expect some Level 1 Yuffie & Cid Emerald and Ruby Weapon battles soon...
