I remember having trouble with this battle in regular playthroughs, so you really have to know what you're doing on level 1. The Black Waltz must be taken out first and you need to heal every turn when he's still alive. Sealion is the one to worry about here and he's got some nasty attacks.

Unlike in FFVII, I don't know the AI and attack pattern of every boss in this game, so I have to figure everything out on my own, just like I did in my very first FFVII challenges ten years ago. From what I understand, Sealion will use Blizzara when his HP is below 2/3 and Tsunami when his HP is below 1/3. Tsunami will deal nearly 100 damage and he likes to double attack in Blizzara mode, so it's a good idea to avoid both.

Tidal Flame deals ~360 damage, and he will enter Blizzara mode just under 320 HP, so you want to bring his HP somewhere between this. Two attacks from front row is too much, so you should attack once from the front and once from the back. While waiting for the Trance bar to fill up, it's a good idea to steal the Mythril Dagger. It's also a good idea to enter the battle with the bar at about 25%, or else you'll get the Trance too soon.

That's the second battle for y'all and this one sure puts Air Buster to shame.
