Final Fantasy X - No Sphere Grid/No Summoning/No Customization (NSGNSNC) Challenge: Braska's Final Aeon

----------

This really isn't that bad. If you do things correctly, Braska's Final Aeon (BFA) only gets one turn the entire fight, and it's only during that turn that you have to rely on luck.

Tidus and Auron will both get a turn before BFA, so use Talk with Tidus and switch Auron out for Rikku. Take out each of the Yu Pagodas with a Shining Gem or a Blessed Gem. BFA will do nothing thanks to Talk.

Switch the next character (either Tidus or Yuna) out for Wakka and switch weapons or armor with Wakka so that he gets a turn AFTER Rikku but BEFORE BFA. Switch Tidus back in for Yuna if you switched him out for Wakka, then use Talk for the final time. Mix Trio of 9999 with Rikku. Use Attack Reels with Wakka, and make sure you get a combo that hits BFA at least 7 times. BFA switches to second form and pulls out that deadly sword, and again, does nothing thanks to Talk.

Tidus uses Blitz Ace. Try not to miss the Blitzball. BFA finally gets a turn. Here's the only time you need luck: If BFA uses a sword swipe, Game Over. If BFA uses a slap or Jecht Beam on Rikku, Game Over. However, if BFA uses a slap or Jecht Beam on Tidus or Wakka, you're pretty much home free.

The Yu Pagodas will be back by now. Attack BFA with either Tidus or Wakka (whoever BFA did not KO/shatter). Have Rikku use any of the elemental gems for five hits of 9999. If at least 3 of the attacks hit BFA, you've won. If not, Rikku should have another turn before BFA, so use another one. If at least 3 of the 10 attacks from the gems hit BFA, you've won. Consider yourself really unlucky if less than three hit BFA.

----------

My final verdict: The NSGNSNO challenge is more difficult. Much, MUCH more difficult. Trio of 9999 just erases any advantage customization could have over overdrives otherwise and makes this challenge too much easier. I was spamming it on pretty much every boss after I got the 30 Wings to Discovery from the chocobo race around Remiem Temple...

----------

NSG = No Sphere Grid
-Never activate any node on your Sphere Grid.

NS = No Summoning
-Never use Yuna's "Summon" command to summon an Aeon.
-There are two exceptions to this rule.
--During the third forced fight in Besaid against Garuda, Yuna is forced to summon Valefor.
--At the exit of Via Purifico, Yuna is forced to summon Aeons against Issaru.
-Those are the only two exceptions. You may never summon an Aeon any other time, not even against Belgamine. You may, however, accept her challenge and simply escape in order to get the items she gives you.

NC = No Customization
-Never open the customization menu to customize any weapons or armor.
-The only weapons that can ever change or gain new abilities are Brotherhood (automatically gains new abilities after Wakka talks to Chappu in Guadosalam) and the Celestial Weapons (by powering them up in Macalania Forest).

----------

Equipment:

Tidus:
-Weapon: Sonic Steel (bought from O'aka in Macalania Forest before fighting Spherimorph)
--Abilities: First Strike
-Armor: Haste Shield (dropped by Bashura)
--Abilities: SOS Haste, empty slot

Yuna: Her weapon doesn't matter, only her armor does.
-Weapon: Rod of Wisdom (treasure in Besaid Cloister of Trials)
--Abilities: Magic +5%, Magic +3%, Sensor
-Armor: Moon Ring (dropped by Seymour Omnis)
--Abilities: SOS Shell, SOS Haste, empty slot

Auron:
-Weapon: Masamune (Auron's Celestial Weapon, see a Celestial Weapons guide for how to obtain)
--Abilities: Break Damage Limit, Triple Overdrive, First Strike, Counterattack
-Armor: Haste Bracer (Dropped by Bashura)
--Abilities: SOS Haste

Kimahri: Doesn't matter, you don't use him in this battle.

Wakka: His weapon doesn't matter, only his armor does.
-Weapon: Rematch (treasure in underwater portion of Via Purifico after Evrae Atlanta as long as no switches were activated)
--Abilities: Evade and Counter
-Armor: Fast Break (dropped by Bashura)
--Abilities: SOS Haste, empty slot

Lulu: Doesn't matter, you don't use her in this battle.

Rikku: Her weapon doesn't matter, only her armor does.
-Weapon: Sonar (treasure in Mi'ihen Ruins)
--Abilities: Initiative, Poisonstrike, empty slot
-Armor: Haste Targe (dropped by Bashura; you can buy one with two empty slots from Wantz when he first introduces himself on Mount Gagazet, but since Bashura dropped one with one empty slot for Rikku while I was farming for SOS Haste armor for the others, I equipped her with that one instead and sold the one from Wantz since it's worth more gil.)
--Abilities: SOS Haste, empty slot
