FFXII TZA Solo Trial Mode - Floor 100 Judges
33:31:30 - Single character playthrough, all hunts and Espers, Trial Mode completed in 1:43:24.
No items were brought into the main game from Trial Mode. Fran was the only character used after she became available, no other party members were put into the active party for any reason. With how experience points work in FFXII, this enabled her to skyrocket in level without any need for grinding, which dramatically improves the viability of Espers in combat as they're basically dedicated tanks with 50k+ HP (with Bubble).
Jobs picked were Knight and Black Mage, mainly for ranged AOE in the early-mid game, Excalibur + White Robes in the late game, and access to Bravery/Faith.
Farming notes: I did extensive farming to prepare for Trial Mode but didn't end up using most of the materials, but here's a couple useful locations.
- Dispel Motes from Barheim Passage Special Op Sector 5, there are two chests that you can quickly farm and reset and overall I think it's a faster and less intrusive experience than grabbing the guaranteed chest from Trial Mode Floor 3, if you're using Trial Mode loot.
- Elixirs and Baltoro Seeds from the Magick Pot in Pharos Subterra Penumbra North, there are no other enemies in the area and there's a door right there that you can use to reload the quicksave and reset its steal contents.
Trial mode was completed by mainly using Exodus, as he casts non-elemental damage based on his max HP. On average this comes out to about 35-40k per attack with Bubble. Hi-Ethers and Elixirs were used to regain mist charge to resummon. The biggest hurdle was Yiazmat due to the chance of inflicting Instant Death, so that fight required a lot of Decoy management and luck.
Zeromus was the key to the final round, as giving him Bubble and using Infuse to bring him to 1 HP means that he deals a whopping 284,520 damage in an AOE, which obliterates three out of the five judges. Using Vanish to position yourself gives you enough time for two casts of Big Bang, the latter of which is enough to finish the two remaining judges without needing to lower Zeromus' HP to 1.
This was a fun challenge. I'm sure you can do single character NG- Trial Mode but that just sounds tedious to me so I'm cutting myself off here!
