In this episode, I give my advice on how to start crafting in Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn as a new player.

I also explain how crafting works and how to optimise the experience gained.

Why should you craft?
1) Repair your own gear cheaply and during combat
2) Reduce costs of finishing quests that require quest turn-ins like the Zodiac quest
3) Avoid the high prices on the market board
4) Make your own profit selling items you've crafted
5) Be independent and not have to rely on other players to acquire items

My alt character Au Rie will be leveling up all 8 crafts in the game; Carpenter, Blacksmith, Armorer, Goldsmith, Leatherworker, Weaver, Alchemist and Culinarian without any help and only using the Gil she generated herself as a new character a couple of weeks ago. Using the advice I have already shown in my New Players Gil Guide (https://youtu.be/X4hvMV6nzvg) I was able to generate 2.75+ million Gil by the time I finished the main scenario on her until the end of Patch 2.55.

My approach for levels 1 to 5 is as follows:
1) Unlock the crafts and do the level 1 quest immediately
2) Make one of every item on the crafting log for the first time craft bonuses
3) Do the Grand Company supply missions for all the crafts
4) Do the level 5 quest
5) Gear up as much as possible using the rewards given from each quest

I also show how to acquire retainers, sell items quickly and efficiently on the market board.

I will be aiming to make sure all the crafts are finished to level 50 before the expansion Heavensward. At this time it is not important to be geared going into the expansion just having the levels will reduce work required to get to 60 giving you an advantage.
