A while ago I faced some backlash for my choice of wanting to purchase a main scenario skip when I had just returned to play FFXIV from quitting Tera Online. People argued that the game is heavily story-based and that I should just play through the quests. They argued that if I was to purchase story skip I would later get bored (burnt OUT) of FFXIV and stop playing.

My counter-argument is:

every gamer is different and will choose to play any game the way they want to play it. Just because others have skipped the story quests and got burnt out at end game doesn't mean I'm the same as them.
