Field of Glory Medieval Historical Battles. The Battle of Kosovo 1389. Serbian Side. King.
The Empire of Serbia is on the verge of collapse. With the death of the strong Emperor Stefan Dusan (literally 'the Mighty') a power that once dominated the western Balkans and acted as a shield against the advancing Ottoman empire now begins to fragment. The Serbians are already reeling from a terrible defeat at Maritsa. Now an Ottoman army descends upon them to finish them off.
The Serbians have many formidable, armoured knights and a motley but effective selection of melee and ranged infantry to draw on. They will surely be more effective than their Ottoman counterparts in the melee. The Ottomans, however, outnumber them two to one, and this is the last army the Serbians can afford to put in the field. If they fail to win this battle decisively, then their realm will crumble, and the fate of the Balkans will become a battleground for outside powers to fight over for generations to come.
The Ottomans have made life even more difficult for Serbian Prince Lazar by drawing up their army behind a palisade of stakes. Prince Lazar takes the advice of an obscure mercenary general to avoid confronting the palisade directly and instead ride around. It will be a time-consuming endeavour that will take much of the day to complete, and must be conducted under constant harassment and under the eyes of entire Ottoman army, but Lazar is banking on the Ottoman army being passive for long enough for his knights to concentrate against the Ottoman right flank.
He had better be right. The fate of his entire empire is at stake.
