The parents of a former soldier are calling for more recognition for private security contractors, who work in conflict zones like Iraq and Afghanistan. Nick Crouch served as an officer in the Parachute Regiment for five years, before leaving to move into close protection work. In 2010, he was killed by a suicide bomber while working in Iraq. His parents say he should not be dismissed as a "mercenary," saying his job was vital to the success of conventional military operations.
