Fighting Fantasy: Island of the Lizard King - iOS - Attempt One (Blind)
0A first attempt at completing the Tin Man Games port of Island of the Lizard King. This adventure gamebook was originally released on paperback in 1984. I did complete it as a kid but I'd forgotten everything.
It's the seventh book in the Fighting Fantasy series. You play an adventurer who travels to Fire Island, to free slaves and defeat the Lizard King.
Every playthrough will be on the max difficulty setting, Hardcore Hero mode. This is where the FF books start getting tougher. It took many tries to complete on Hardcore Hero. I figured you wouldn't want to keep seeing me die to the first enemy over and over, so I won't be showing every single attempt, but still around twenty of them. To avoid confusion, I will number them sequentially in the playlist, even though there might have been other attempts in-between.
I'm playing the same way I did as a kid, which is to reach a conclusion, then re-roll and start from the beginning if I lose (permadeath basically, so no bookmarking). Each subsequent attempt will be slightly different, though due to the nature of gamebooks, there will be sections that repeat. I'll skim over passages more and more as I go through parts I've read multiple times, so pause if I'm going too fast. This one shouldn't need pausing as it's my first time playing. Note: I won't be providing narration or commentary.
There's a bug with this version, where the battle music starts echoing. It took a while to figure out what was happening, but I eventually found the cause and a way to make it stop. Unfortunately, some of the videos are stuck with the echo, so apologies in advance if it bothers you.
