Fights in Tight Spaces - 401,166 Points [PB 07-04-2021]
I started to play this game more seriously for the past 4 days. It is extremely hard, not because of the actual playing of cards, but because of the number of decisions that are required along the way. I have never beaten it, and this is the closest I've ever come. How close, you may ask? Quite possibly 1 card away, but I will never know for certain.
You see, I had been trying several strategies for how to proceed through the game, none of which really worked completely. That is, I could always seem to get to the final stage without too much trouble, but never much further than the 1st or 2nd fight before becoming completely overwhelmed. Well, I thought about it, and finally tried a new strategy, which off the bat worked so efficiently per fight, and also got me not only to the very last fight, but the very last enemy of the last fight.
I had made a mistake early on that brought me down to 9 health, the exact amount that one enemy would do just for hitting him. Therefore, I had to save him for last, and try to maneuver him to the door and hit him out of it. Miraculously, I did exactly the first part of that plan, tricking the enemy to position right next to me and the door, and me playing a Slip to put him between me and the door. I had a Ponder card, which would have allowed me to draw 3 more cards to try to draw a proper attack card to push him out, since eliminating an enemy first avoids taking any damage from that enemy. Even failing that, I had a free movement card in Commit, so if anything I minimally had another turn. However, I took that opportunity, as well as the 2.5 hours straight of playing this run, and threw it all away by habitually playing a Pocket Sand card to nullify him as insurance, which I would realize quickly thereafter was technically an attack card, thus triggering the 9 auto-damage, and killing me in response. This is probably the most horrible thing I've ever done and/or experienced in any video game. Thank you.
